UNICAL VC commends MBBCH Class of 2000 for giving back to Alma Mata ....Commissions College Meeting Hall



The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has commended the MBBCH Class of 2000 for renovating and equipping a Meeting Hall in the College of Medical Sciences.


Prof. Obi who gave the commendation while commissioning the Meeting Hall in the College of Medical Sciences appreciated them for giving back to their Alma Mata.


While describing the College of Medical Sciences as the flagship of the institution, the Vice Chancellor said she was proud of MBBCH Class of 2000 and by extension the College for supporting the University Management.



She said the renovation and equipping of the Meeting Hall has lifted a huge burden off the shoulders of the University Management, adding that, the MBBCH Class of 2000 have left indelible footprints on the sands of time.


This came as she charged students of the institution to always take responsibility for their actions by contributing positively to the growth of the institution.


"We are proud of the College because it has always been supportive. The renovation and refurbishing of the meeting hall has relieved management of a huge burden. We thank the MBBCH Class of 2000 for coming to the aid of management," she said.


Also speaking, the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof. Ngim Ngim, appreciated the year 2000 MBBCH Graduating Class for the kind gesture, even as he called on other MBBCH Classes to borrow a leaf from them.


Represented by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Boniface Ago, he said the MBBCH Class of 2000 have etched their names in gold for contributing their quota to the development of the University.


He also thanked the Vice Chancellor for her giant strides since assumption of office as the first female Vice Chancellor of the institution, maintaining that, the Faculty of Clinical Sciences will always key into the policy thrust of her administration.


Chairman of College Alumni Committee, Prof. Saturday Etuk, in his remarks, thanked the Vice Chancellor for honoring the College with her esteem presence, just as he appreciated the year 2000 MBBCH Graduating Class for the great feat.


On his part, Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Prof.Victor Ansa, said the MBBCH Class of 2000 has left a lasting legacy College on the institution, thereby commending the Vice Chancellor for her massive support for the College.


He said the College would always strive to make a difference by ensuring that graduates of the College stands head and shoulders above their contemporaries on the global stage.


A Representative of the 2000 MBBCH Class, Dr Stephen Ogbudu, said the renovation and refurbishing of the Hall was their way of acknowledging their Alma Mata, stating that, the University and the contributions of their teachers in the course of their studies have yielded good result for the past 21 years.


According to him, the tutelage of their teachers has produced specialists in all fields of medicine who are making waves all over the world.
