UNICAL COMMENCES POST UTME SCREENING EXERCISE FOR 2020/2021 ACADEMIC SESSION

 



The University of Calabar has commenced her Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination Screening Exercise for the 2020/2021 Academic session(UTME).


The event which is for both Direct Entry and Regular Candidates is ongoing in two different centres in the institution; Post Graduate School and University E-Library.


Filling questions from Field Correspondents of the Information Unit, the Chairman, Post- UTME Committee, Prof. Eyong Ubana Eyong, disclosed that the total number of candidates registered to participate in the exercise was about ten thousand, one hundred and fifty-four.

 

Prof. Eyong affirmed that adequate preparations have been put in place for the smooth and successful conduct of the exercise.


While reiterating that management has provided the necessary facilities to enhance the efficiency of the exercise, the Chairman expressed his optimism that the committee will discharge its duty to the satisfaction of all concerned.


According to him, “the centres are well organized, therefore, the examinations would be a seamless exercise".


The Chairman while appreciating the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi  for providing a conducive environment for the examination, stated that the institution has provided a standby generating set that runs for 24 hours.


He further informed that the candidates have been arranged to sit for the examinations in batches, with a minimum of 12 batches to attend to daily.


Similarly, some of the candidates including one Eze Joel, who applied to study Physics, expressed gratitude to God for granting him the opportunity to sit for the examination, adding that, by what he has seen so far, UNICAL is a prestigious institution with adequate facilities.


In the same vein, Alandem Norlla, who expressed her optimism for a successful result, said that Unical was her preferred choice to study because of the much positive information she has heard about the institution.


A cross-section of the candidates who spoke to newsmen generally appreciated the organization and processes of the exercise.
