APC NWL: BETTA EDU — A PRODUCT THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

By Kingsley Agim.

Leadership, according to Robin S. Sharma, is not about a title or designation. It is about Impact, Influenced and Inspirational. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to Inspire teammates in order to enhance productivity.

The above inference vividly captures Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu’s public persona as a strong and determined leader with a predilection for creating Impact and grinding results. A lady who has become a source of pride to Womanhood and an embodiment of effective leadership.

From her years in the University of Calabar as a vocal and intelligent unionist, to blazing the trail in health sector management as the foremost Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and later Commissioner for Health, where her Covid-19 emergency stewardship of the State made Cross River a reference to the Nation, honed he craft at Ivy League Universities of the World, Dr. Betta Edu has carved a niche for herself in public service and politics of the State and Nigeria. She is primed to serve in the highest echelons of human endeavors.

The Chairman of Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum is one of the few politicians who has exhibited penchant for educational/manpower development through her scholarship programme which cut across Secondary, Post-secondary, Territory and Postgraduate levels for indigenes and non indigenes alike.

As women continue to break the glass ceiling globally by defying the odds to rise up to top leadership positions, Dr. Betta Edu is one example of such women who is destined for the top.

A go-getter, team player, selfless leader, and likable personality, Betta Edu’s incontrovertible rise to the top has come as no fluke but by dint of hard work. Betta Edu is a product that speaks for itself.

Little wonder the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the State chose her as her consensus candidate for the National Women Leader position ahead of the March 26th National Convention.

Unfortunately, detractors have come out on a mudslinging spree against Dr. Edu’s candidacy. It is not strange. But my candid advice to such people is that if the party is supreme, its decisions should be binding on all its members irrespective of personal interest.

The South-South APC must not negotiate its resolve to sending the best hands to represent the party at the national level. And if that is the overbearing position of the South-South APC, then Betta Edu is the best for the National Women Leader position.

As we approach March 26, everyone who means well for the party should pitch tent in Betta Edu as one who is replete with the wherewithal of galvanizing women across boards in the bid to re-enacting their consciousness and participation in the political process of our dear country.

It's time to look at their score cards and then settle down the best and in all, Betta Edu will continue to top the chat due to her numerous achievements and philanthropist attitude. Let's join hands together and support Betta Edu.
