NYSC DG seeks stakeholders’ support for trust fund




Maj.-Gen. Shu’aibu Ibrahim, Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has called on Nigerians and relevant authorities to support the actualization of the NYSC Trust Fund currently before the National Assembly.


Ibrahim made the call in his address presented by the NYSC Coordinator in Cross River, Mr Zemoh Andrew, during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2022 Batch 'A' stream Il corps members.


The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the swearing-in was held on Wednesday at the NYSC orientation camp in Obubra local government area, Cross River.


The Director-General said that the actualisation of the fund will enhance the smooth operation of the scheme and boost its skills and entrepreneurship development programme.


He added that the fund is aimed at empowering corps members for self employment and wealth creation among others. 


He also solicited support from stakeholders and corporate bodies for the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), designed at providing free access to qualitative health care for the rural populace.


Ibrahim urged the corps members to regard the oath of allegiance they have taken as a significant step meant to guide their conduct during their service year and beyond.


NAN reports that the oath of allegiance was administered on the about 2,000 corps members by the State Chief Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme, who was represented by Justice Emmmanuel Ubua.
