Peace Corps National delegates, State officials, political class, others attend Clement Odey's funeral




Deputy National Commandant Planning, Prof. Edet Ekpenyong, former commissioner of information, Asu Okan, Nassarawa, Delta and Akwa Ibom Commandants, on Friday in Cross River State,  attended a Funeral Service for late chief Clement Okweche.



Speaking shortly after the burial ceremony, the National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Prof. Dickson Akoh ably represented by Prof. Edet Ekpenyong explained that the sage left when his family, community, and the society at large needed his useful contribution in building humanity and peaceful coexistence the most.



Akoh described the late Chief Clement Odey as a peace advocate which he demonstrated without restraint while he was alive. He asked God to comfort the bereaved family, especially the Cross Rivers State Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dr. Dominic Okweche.



In his piece, Prof. Edet Ekpenyong extends the condolences of the FCT Command of the Corps to the family of late Okweche, while also asking the family to take solace in the fact that the late community leader left an indelible legacy that could stand the test of time.



Both Nassarawa, Delta and Akwa Ibom State commandants prayed to God to grant eternal rest to the late father of Pat. Dominic Okweche, recounted his positive contributions to humanity while alive. Commandant music and Assistant Commandant Intelligence of the FCT Command all condoled with Dr. Dominic Okweche over the unfortunate incident.


In addition,  State Command, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Cross River sympathized with the State Commandant, Patriot (Dr.) Dominic Okweche  Odey over the demise of his beloved father, Mr. Clement Okweche Odey.


"Sir, we know how Papa's exit had affected you emotionally because of your attachment to him and how he embraced and accommodated us each time we visited. His passion and love for the Peace Corps were unwavering. We missed him greatly.


"Though gone off our sights but he remains in our hearts. Our heartfelt condolences go to you and the Okweche family at this time of grief. Our gallant dear Commandant, be consoled that Papa lived a worthy life and God has called him to rest in His bosom. 


"Remember, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.


"We pray God to give you and your family the strength to subdue this irreplaceable loss.


In his reaction, the State Commandant Pat. Dominic Okweche expressed his appreciation to the Peace Corps of Nigeria and the National Commandant, Prof. Dickson Akoh for identifying with him and his family over the demise of their father. He asked God to bless and grant journey mercy to everyone that came to share in their pain.



The late Clement Okweche Odey died at the age of 74years and was laid to rest at his family compound at Ibiaragidi, Bekwarra LGA of Cross Rivers State after an interment service was held in his honor at the Holy Trinity Parish, Ibiaragidi.
