Asuquo Ekpenyong/APC Lobby Group energizing the CROWEI and youths Structures in Cross River State

By Prince Charles Ekanem

It is true that a golden fish has no hiding place. The professional, political and public service career of national and global leaders are always in public domain either for good or bad. Their performance or lack of it stands them out as the populace, public affairs analysts and social affairs commentators are always on their toes to publicly and vocally assess their varied contributions to the socio-economic wellbeing of women  and youth in governance and politics.

The above musing aptly describes the dynamic and highly resourceful former Commissioner of Finance, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong within the backdrop of a higher calling that is currently tolling its bell on him ahead of 2023. For the consummate technocrat, cerebral chartered economist and financial expert and super-achieving administrative helmsman par excellence, much has been written and chronicled on his superb and superlative power of mobilizing, organizing and driving the party stronger at grassroots as well as his groundbreaking reforms both at Cross River State Ministry of Finance as the immediate Commissioner in charged of that Ministry and the Chief driver of women and youth inclusion in politics, no wonder he has continued to maintain the structures of Cross River Women Emancipation Initiative (CROWEI) birthed by the quiessential First Lady of Cross River State, Dr Linda Ayade that have repositioned and recalibrated women and youth in governance for a more credible, responsive and efficient service delivery to the people and the nation at large.

However, much as Asuquo Ekpenyong might want to avoid the public limelight, his tremendous and all-encompassing performance at various levels of his involvement in governance and administration has attracted unprecedented adulation and encomiums to the extent that no less an influential and prescient Paramount Ruler, the famed HRM Edward Osim, the father of Prince Godswill Edward who is an intending aspirant for the office of the Governor comes 2023 has opined that Asuquo is the choice of the people.

The revered traditional ruler did not mince words while disclosing that Asuquo with magnitude of followers and acceptability is the choice of Cross Riverians to maintained the good work of His Excellency Senator Prof Ben Ayade.

Ekpenyong’s youth and women empowerment programme is also a complement to his development agenda for the state as thousands of women and youths have been trained in fish farming, rabbit and poultry production, bee keeping, hair dressing, barbing, sewing, tying and dying, soap making, as well as confectionary skills. All these are geared towards enhancing their income-generating and self-sustenance status. Indeed there is hope for Cross River State Women youths.

Asuquo Ekpenyong is the Standard!
