C'River Central Students ask Assembly Speaker to join 2023 Senatorial race

 



Cross River State Students of Central Senatorial District have called on Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams publicly declare his intention to run for the 2023 Central senatorial district election.


The group led by one Egu, Samuel Kingsley, who thronged the entrance of Margaret Ekpo International Airport on Friday was seen with banners, and placards carrying different inscriptions, asking him to declare for Senate.



The members were equally seen chanting songs, insisting that the lawmaker made his intention known as soon as possible given their belief in his leadership style.



The group noted that Williams remained the best candidate to represent the Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, having served the State effectively and efficiently, closely supporting the Governor Prof. Ben Ayade to finish strong.


Kingsley added that for “competence, experience, fairness, youth friendliness, and open-mindedness” Williams deserved the senatorial seat.


Kingsley explained further that the students unanimously preferred Williams after a critical review of those vying for the senatorial seat in the Central Senatorial District.


Responding to their request, the Speaker appreciated them first for coming out to welcome him at the airport and promised to reach out to them concerning their request.


Williams added that when the time comes, He will come out publicly and strong, and everyone will be informed about his intention but for now, he is following due process as a legislator.
