Rt Williams: Fulfilling the Mandate of The Central Senatorially

In the era where people are advocating for political inclusion both at the national and local level, and in a situation where elective officers are bound to deliver on their mandate, it then behooves on the delegates and in extension the populace to choose men and women of proven integrity to mount the saddles of leadership as 2023 beckons.

To align totally with political pundits and in support of the concept of zoning and rotation of political office, justice, fairness and equity have micro-zoned the Central Senatorial District seat to Old Obubra after 24 years of the seat rotating in the Old Ikom axis of the Senatorial district.

Looking at the Cross River Central Senatorial District Seat in view of the above, the aspiration of Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams, a credible son of Yakurr Local Government Area and currently the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, comes to mind as the right man for the job.

For the benefit of those who only know Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams on the surface, he is a tested and trusted silent achiever with legislative excellence that is enveloped with stability, humility and devoid of rancour.

Legislatively, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has carried out his responsibilities of lawmaking, oversight and representation creditably. In fact, the overall records of the 9th Assembly under his Speakership remain unparalleled.    He recently bagged the prestigious Independence Newspaper Award as ‘Speaker of the Year 2021’. All these were possible because of his collaboration and cooperation with the Governor Ben Ayade-led Executive.

As we go into Primaries and subsequent elections, delegates of Central Senatorial District are challenged to search their consciences and decide on the progress and development of the district through Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams, a young man with great antecedents and pedigree.

As a third term Lawmaker and Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah is capable of bringing every situation under control and at the right time, therefore, being a Senator will not be an experimental field where he will get lost in the crowd due to absence of legislative know how.

Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams, if elected Senator, will attract the much needed democratic benefits and dividends to his Senatorial District because he has never been selfish, and he believes in the ideology of live and let’s live. He is, and will remain, a trailblazer as far as legislative competency is concern.
