All Progressive Congress (APC) women on Saturday flagged off the south-south women presidential campaigns for the party’s candidates; Bola Ahmed and Kashim Shettima, with a call on women to uphold the party with seriousness to attain victory. On arrival in Calabar, the first lady and her entourage paid a courtesy call on the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, to discuss their plans ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections. Speaking at the event held at the U.J Esuene Sports Stadium, Calabar, the state capital, Aisha Buhari, the wife of Nigeria’s president, ably represented by Fatima Buhari, expressed optimism that women and youths will deliver in the forthcoming 2023 general elections. She noted that the party stands for peace and progress, urging the women to carry the campaign with seriousness and commitment. Similarly, the Cross River State first lady, Dr. Mrs. Linda Ayade admonished women and youths to vote for the party in the state given the track records of the present administration. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the APC Presidential candidate in her submission, stated that they would bring succor to unemployed youths in the state and as well, turn around the fortune of the people of the state for the better. She said Cross River is indeed a blessed state, even as she commended Governor Ben Ayade for what he has been doing for women and youths in the state. In his remarks, Governor Ben Ayade expressed gratitude for the choice of the state for the flag off of the campaign for the party candidates. “Our support for Asiwaju Tinubu is not because he is perfect. Our support for Asiwaju is because of his provable excellent track record as a people person who can consolidate on the gains of the present, drive inclusive growth, and lead our country to become more prosperous. “It is clear that the Asiwaju Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket is the most experienced and the most progressive combination available on the ballot in 2023,” the governor said. Earlier in her opening remark, APC National Women leader, Dr. Betta Edu mentioned that they will work with the presidential candidate to ensure that the rights and privileges of Nigerian women are fully protected. “We will work with Asiwaju to ensure that the rights and privileges of Nigerian women are fully protected." “I assure you of our commitment to making sure that women always get enough seats at the table where issues of public importance are decided.” She added. Edu called on the Nigerian people, especially women, to support the APC in the coming elections for sustainable development and steady victory against all forces of evil. Barr. Alphonsus Eba, Cross River State APC chairman, assured Tinubu that Cross River State will give them 100 percent support. “Cross River will give Tinubu and Shettima one hundred percent support,” he said. Representative of Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of the APC Vice Presidential candidate described Tinubu and his running mate as tested people with records of achievements, adding that what the country needs, at this time, are tested men. The flag-off also had in attendance the Cross River State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu, the speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones, the APC governorship candidate in Cross River State, Sen. Prince Otu, amongst others.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.
