The State Lawmakers have confirmed the appointment of 13 nominees as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
The confirmation followed the report of the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions and Ethics by it's Chairman, Hon Chris Njar Mbu-Ogar(Etung).
According to the report, all the nominees were found to be worthy of the appointment. The report states; "Having met the constitutional requirements and having been found fit and proper persons, the Committee wishes to recommend that the nomination of the underlisted persons as Commissioners and Members of the State Executive Council be confirmed by this honourable House".
Those confirmed include; Dr Janet Ekpenyong, Mrs Ekwele Agube, Prince Sunday Awara, Hon Wogor Umari, Dr Hippolytus Lukpata, Mrs Gertrude Njar and Mr Patrick Ebam.
Others are; Okoma Inyang, Dr Denet Eyo Nsing, Hon Godwin Etta, Hon Ankpo Pius Edet, Ntufam Ekpenyong Effiong Iso and Mr Adamu Uba Musa.
The Lawmakers expressed gratitude to Governor Ben Ayade for appointing their constituents as Commissioners. They described the nominees as Cross Riverians who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavours.
On his part, the Speaker, Rt Hon Eteng Williams advised the Nominees to work hard in order to justify their appointments.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar. The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. During the meeting, Engr. Egbe emphasized the importance of safeguarding all critical public infrastructure and ensuring close collaboration between the Ministry of Public Utilities and the NSCDC in achieving the Governor’s vision for a sustainable and secure state.
