The All Progressives Congress APC Governorship Candidate Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu has said that when elected as Governor of Cross River State, his administration will put a Progressives Tax System in place that will allow businesses to grow in the state.
Sen. Bassey Otu said he appreciates the challenge of multiple taxation faced by many businesses in the state and the tax administration he will deploy will not only be fair but will have the thriving of businesses as a key concern.
He made the statement in an engagement with the business community in Cross River State which held recently at the Entrepreneurship Development Center, Eyo Ita House, Ndidem Usang Iso Road, Calabar.
The Engagement was convened by Great Ogban, the founder Leaders Den Foundation and Special Assistant to the governor on Entrepreneurship Development, Cross River State.
The leading Governorship Candidate also stated that his administration will unveil a legal framework to support small businesses, provide access to finance and market as well as reposition Entrepreneurship Development and Support Systems and risks mitigation
Speaking further, Sweet Prince as he is popularly called added that his administration will scale up Agro Industrialization in the state as well as support mechanisation of Agriculture. He explained that this is important to create jobs, build value chains that will ensure the state's economy grows to achieve a GDP growth of 5% per annum in the state.
He concluded by assuring the business community in the state that he has plans to get Tinapa Business Resort up and running by putting the facilities already present there to use, complete all uncompleted and abandoned projects by previous administrations and build a close working relationship with the Organised Private Sector.
Some of the Organised Private Sector organisations present at the engagement were Calabar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria MAN, National Association of Small Scale Industrialists NASSI, Hoteliers Association of Nigeria, Cross River State Chapter, Market Women Association, National Association of Women in Business .
The highpoint of the event was the endorsement of the APC Governorship Candidate Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu by the NACCIMA Business women Group NAWORG, Market Women among others.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR

  The Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State, Professor Francisca Bassey, has expressed concern over the gravity of damage of the University's structures recorded in the wake of the rainstorm which swept through Calabar city yesterday, the 7th of May, 2025.  The Acting Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Director of Administration,  Professor Tom Ojikpong, expressed this concern when she led members of the University's management team on an on-the-spot inspection of the affected buildings in Calabar campus of the University.
