The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) Lagos Zone has re-elected Comrade Eyam Abeng as her Zonal Chairman for the next three years.
The election and immediate inauguration which took place at the 7th Triennial Delegates Conference of PENGASSAN held on the 18th day of April, 2023 at Park Inn Hotel Abeokuta with about eighty (80) delegates present from different branches of PENGASSAN in Lagos zone.
Announcing the Results, the Returning Officer for the election Comrade Wale Ajayi, a
Principal General Secretary of PENGASSAN Kaduna Zone, declared Comr. Eyam Abeng of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS) Branch unopposed and returned elected after no further nominations was made for the office of the Zonal Chairman.
Excited by the development, members of Lagos zone were visibly seen in their numbers pouring encomiums, overwhelming cheers and chanting solidarity songs to usher the newly elected Chairman to the podium.
Other newly elected and inaugurated members of the Zonal Executive Committee (ZECOM) of PENGASSAN Lagos Zone includes:
Comr. Ebiesuwa Segun of Chevron Contract (Vice Chairman), Comr. Oyibiru Tijani of OVH Energy (Zonal Secretary), Comr. Kemi Thomas of MPN Contract (Asst. Secretary) and Comr. Usman Umar of Total Energies EP emerged as Treasurer of the zone. Others are: Comr. Paul Ndolu of Chevron (Industrial Relations Officer), Comr. Ibekwe Akaniyene of MPN (Financial Secretary), Comr. Juliana Adenike of Prime 127 (PRO), Comr. Tunde Adeyinka of Total Energies Marketing (Zonal Auditor) and Comr. Nikki Duru of Shell who emerged as Chairperson Zonal PENGASSAN Women Commission.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Eyam Abeng thanked members of the Association for the singular honour, support, trust and confidence repose on him by re-electing him to continue adding value to the Association. He noted that all the visible and numerous achievements in his first tenure was however despite the economic hardship occasioned by several natural and man-made disasters like Covid-19, Naira Redesign Policy, Multi Exchange Rate and the Russian - Ukraine War which impacted heavily on the oil sector globally.
He further assured members of Lagos zone to do his very best as usual to improve and consolidate on the achievements of his first tenure in office, advance issues of members' welfare and job security. He thanked the President of PENGASSAN world wide who doubles as the Trade Union Congress (TUC) President Comr. Festus Osifo, Elders of the Zone, Branch Chairmen and all members for the Association for the enabling environment to emerge victorious.
Comr. Abeng who doubles as the National President, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association and the Special Adviser to the TUC President on Media and Special duties also used the opportunity to call on the incoming administration of Federal Government of Nigeria, industry regulators and Strategic Partners to see to the rapid completion of the ongoing rehabilitation of our local Refineries, gas infrastructure projects and speedy unification of Exchange Rates in the country.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar. The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. During the meeting, Engr. Egbe emphasized the importance of safeguarding all critical public infrastructure and ensuring close collaboration between the Ministry of Public Utilities and the NSCDC in achieving the Governor’s vision for a sustainable and secure state. He also inspected the state of the Command’s facilities and sympathized with the personnel over the recent rainstorm that destroyed parts of the roofing, leaving the building flooded and disrupting operations.
