The DG Cross River State Scholarship Board Nuella Tessy Anyin says it has facilitated over 200 scholarships for young Cross Riverians.
DG disclosed this on Sunday while presenting her scorecard to journalists in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to her, within 3 years, the board has sent 200 students abroad on scholarship through PTDF, NDDC etc without collecting a kobo.
She noted that the state scholarship was approved by His Excellency Prof. Ben Ayade and the only setback it suffered was the non-release of funds by the said government.
DG further noted that she would not announce a scheme if there was no approval from His Excellency and as a Board, she was not entitled to an impress, and to ensure she delivered on her Job, her admin came up with the 2000 collection that aided the printing of the forms, receipts, hired ad-hoc staff and other logistical activities, with these, 2000 is never extortion.
Anyin added that those that paid 2000 are not unto 1000, for the collection was skeletal, all candidates of the past election in the APC collected the forms for their constituents but to date, those forms are not returned.
"As a Comrade, I will never extort students but I was only looking for an avenue to relieve students of fees burden and also to add to my scorecard.
DG urged Students to remain calm for her office is a 5 years board and every eligible student will benefit from the scheme while pleading to the latest Governor to look into the welfare of students in the state.
