University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association has congratulated former Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh on his appointment as Secretary to the State Government, (SSG).
In a statement signed by the national President, Comrade Eyam Abeng, the alumni lauded the state Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu for trusting the ex-VC with such important position in his administration.
The association noted that in Enoh, Otu has found a thorough breed administrator with impressive performance credentials that'll bring so much value to his government.
< v> "We want to congratulate our former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh on his recent appointment as the Secretary to the State government by Governor Bassey Edet Otu. We thank the Governor immensely for finding him worthy to serve in such an important position.
SSG is the engine room of the government and we're particularly pleased that the Governor has gotten a perfect fit for the position. Prof. Owan Enoh is a thorough breed administrator who has always distinguished himself in every given opportunity. He was an outstanding administrator as provost of the College of Education, Akamkpa and Vice Chancellor of our dear alma matter. We've no doubt that he'll bring his wealth of experience to bear in making the Governor Otu's administration a very successful one", the statement reads in part.
The alumni urged the Governor to create more opportunities to accommodate many products of the University in his government.
According to the statement "as we always say, UNICROSS has come of age and it's an asset to the state government. We're very pleased with the appointment of our ex-VC. This has given us the confidence that more of our products would be accommodated in the new administration.
Prof. Owan Enoh had groomed and produced some of the most innovative, resilient and hardworking graduates during his time as Vice Chancellor. It's only normal that now that he's been elevated to the Chief admin officer of the government, he, through the Governor creates opportunities for more of his products to showcase what he instilled in them.
We're hoping that his appointment would open more opportunities for UNICROSS graduates who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavours. As an association, we see the new government as our own and we'll support and encourage the government to succeed in any capacity we're capable of".
While calling on Cross Riverians to support the new government, the association congratulated the Governor on his election victory and the people of the state for a peaceful transition of power.
