As we mark the first 100 days of Hon. Joseph Bassey's tenure as a Honourable member representing Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency, Cross River State, and Chairman, House Committee on Emergency and Disaster Management, it is truly commendable to reflect on the remarkable achievements that have already defined his time in office. 


In this short period, Hon. Joseph Bassey

has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the welfare and progress of his constituents, leaving an indelible mark in the annals of legislative excellence.


Legislative Activities: A cornerstone of Hon. Bassey's tenure has been his dedication to legislative excellence. Within this brief span, he has presented five bills on the floor of the House, each aimed at addressing pivotal issues and promoting positive change within his constituency. Furthermore, his motion of urgent importance regarding the deplorable state of the Calabar-Odukpani road in Cross River State underscores his resolve to improve infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for his constituents.


Education: Just five days after his swearing-in ceremony on June 13th, 2023, Hon. Bassey displayed his unwavering commitment to education by awarding a scholarship worth 10 million naira to deserving constituents. This generous initiative not only empowers the youth of Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency but also emphasizes the pivotal role of education in shaping a brighter future for all.


Financial Assistance: In the true spirit of compassion and empathy, Hon. Bassey has provided financial assistance to over 100 constituents facing dire circumstances. His timely intervention during their most challenging moments is a testament to his genuine concern for the well-being of those he represents, offering a lifeline to those in need.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR

  The Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State, Professor Francisca Bassey, has expressed concern over the gravity of damage of the University's structures recorded in the wake of the rainstorm which swept through Calabar city yesterday, the 7th of May, 2025.  The Acting Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Director of Administration,  Professor Tom Ojikpong, expressed this concern when she led members of the University's management team on an on-the-spot inspection of the affected buildings in Calabar campus of the University.
