C'River Finance Commissioner assures Peace Corps of partnership to impact on the State security network

 

The Cross River Finance Commissioner, Mr. Mike Odere has assured the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Cross River State Command of the willingness to partner and collaborate with them in relevant areas in the State. 


He disclosed this while receiving Men and Officers of the Corps led by the State Commandant, Patriot (Dr.) Dominic Okweche Odey in the Ministry’s Headquarters in Calabar on Thursday 28th September 2023.


The Commissioner said ‘’ The Ministry is willing to collaborate and partner with the Peace Corps because he saw the seriousness and the activities of the Corps during the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the world.


He added that the Corps was more on the ground than other security outfits in the state during the pandemic.


"To make life more meaningful for all Cross Riverians because if we are here to serve the interest of the state, then we must partner to improve upon security in our dear state.


He assured the State Commandant that this administration will partner with the  Corps in all relevant areas in the days ahead for the peace and security of Cross River State.


Earlier,  Patriot (Dr.) Okweche, Cross River State Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, on behalf of his men and officers, stated that the visit was to congratulate the Commissioner for Finance, on his well-deserved appointment while thanking the  Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu for putting a square peg in a square hole. 


He added that just as the Command had been fully involved during the COVID-19 pandemic and the elections, they are available and committed to ensuring that they carry out their objectives through working with government, schools,  and non-governmental organizations in the state.


A highlight of the visit was the presentation of a customized congratulations card to the Hon. Commissioner.
