C'River Health Commissioner Commends Assembly Speaker, Former LG Chairman For Building PHCs In Their Communities

Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk has commended the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem for his vision of building a Primary Healthcare Centre in his hometown of Nde in Ikom Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking at the commissioning of the facility, Sunday, in Nde - Ikom, as part of activities marking the Speaker's Thanksgiving Service, Dr. Ayuk said the gesture aligns completely with the Governor Bassey Otu-led administration's commitment to providing healthcare down to the last mile (primary healthcare level).

Describing the Speaker as "a worthy son of Nde, Ikom LGA and Cross River State," the Health Commissioner said the already-equipped facility is a huge contribution to the present administration's drive to entrench Universal Health Coverage in Cross River State.

In a related development, the Health Boss commended his Human Capital and Entrepreneurial Development counterpart, Hon. Kingsley Egumi for his love for his people of Etikpe (also in Ikom LGA), demonstrated by gifting them a befitting edifice for a healthcare facility.

Showering plaudits on his colleague, who had built the edifice during his stint as Chairman of Ikom LGA (a position he just left), said projects as those are such that would outlive a person's tenure of office because there have direct bearing on the people, saying "little wonder he was ranked among the best chairmen in Cross River State."

He said State Government will expedite action on providing the required equipment and manpower for the smooth takeoff of the health facility, which he quipped, would be immensely beneficial to the Etikpe Community and its neighbours as well as Ogoja Local Government Area.

He called on the political class, business owners and other well-placed individuals in Cross River and beyond to borrow a leaf from the duo and contribute a quota to the betterment of the society by providing assistance to the health sector development of the State.
