Rt. Hon. Alex Ukam Extols Tinubu, Otu on Inauguration as NPC Federal Commissioner


The Federal Commissioner representating Cross River State in the National Population Commission (NPC), Rt. Hon. Alex Ukam has commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu on his nomination and subsequent inauguration into the Board of NPC, pledging to work assiduously in delivering quality service to the nation.



Rt. Hon. Ukam made this known during an interview with our correspondent shortly after his inauguration by President Bola Tinubu during the Federal Executive Council Meeting (FEC) at Aso Rock Villa yesterday, adding that Mr. President kind gesture of appointing him a Federal Commissioner will be reciprocated through his hard work, unalloyed commitment and dedication to serve the nation.


The former federal Lawmaker equally appreciated His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu for finding him worthy of the role. He pledge his continuous support and collaboration with the People’s Governor to deliver good goverance to the good people of Cross River State. 


In his words: "I thank God Almighty for making this day a reality. I equally want to use this medium to extend my unreserved gratitude to Mr. President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu for considering me to represent our dear State and serve this great nation in the capacity of a Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission. I am believing God for the grace, health and enablement to meet the expectations of Cross Riverians and Nigerians at large."


Bishop Ukam promise to bring his rich experiences to bare in repositioning NPC for optimal service delivery in the State, adding that the people will feel the impact of NPC in Cross River State under his watch. "In the next couple  of days, we will rejig and rejuvenate the activities of NPC in the State in order to meet her mandate and in line with the renewed hope agenda and vision of Mr. President," he reaffirmed. 


Rt. Hon. Alex thereafter called on Cross Riverians to collectively join hands with him to reposition NPC in the State. He assured Cross Riverians of an open door policy and welcome suggestions that can bring about quality service delivery to the people. 


Recall that Bishop Alex Ukam was among the eighteen (18) Federal Commissioners for the National  Population Commission nominated by President Bola Tinubu on November 8, 2023 and subsequently confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on February 21, 2024 for a renewable tenure of five (5) years.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.
