In preparation for the 2027 general elections, the Yakurr APC Women’s Organization (YAWO) has taken a significant step forward by mobilizing 1000 women and inaugurating its executives and ward coordinators across the Yakurr Local Government Area. This strategic move aims to strengthen the political involvement and influence of women within the community.

During the inauguration, the Director-General of YAWO, Mrs. Obono Nyimbi Ubi, expressed her determination to uplift the political status of women in Yakurr.

"It is time to build and empower our women to take their rightful place in politics. I am proud to be a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)".

"Come 2027, we mean business. The goal of this organization is to educate and mobilize women to actively participate in politics, not just as supporters, but as leaders and decision-makers. We need to encourage our women to step forward, shed their fears, and embrace political engagement. This organization is designed to foster growth and support among APC women in Yakurr". she stated.

"Our aim and objectives is to form a formidable, respectable and a reliable women group to provide a support base for APC towards 2027 elections".

"To provide support and the needed mobilizations of Yakurr population for Senator Eteng Jonah Williams and all candidates".

"To Educate Yakurr women, young girls on the need to support all candidates and to cause other local government women to form same platforms to support all candidates for 2027 general elections".

Mrs. Ubi emphasized that YAWO's mission is to ensure that His Excellency Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is re-elected as President, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu as Governor, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams returns to the Senate, Rt. Hon. Alex Egbona to the House of Representatives, and Hon. Cyril Omini and Hon. Mercy Akpama returned to the House of Assembly.

"Our voices will be heard loud and clear. We are serious and resolute in Yakurr," she concluded.

The wife of the Yakurr Local Government Chairman Dr. Mrs. Ntongha Yibala Inyang, represented at the event by Mrs. Rita Sylvanus Oden, expressed her unwavering support for the organization.

She celebrated Hon. Dr. Mercy Akpama, congratulated all the female councilors who won in the recent local government elections.

"The Chairman's wife fully supports this initiative aimed at fostering peace and unity among Yakurr women. Women have historically been underrepresented in politics, and this organization is crucial in bringing them together. Without unity, our goals will remain unattainable," she urged.

She further noted that women played a significant role during the last elections by turning out in large numbers to vote.

"If we start preparing now for 2027, we can ensure that women hold positions such as chairpersons, legislative seats, and appointments," she said,

She concluded by encouraging continuous support for the DG's efforts.

The event saw other speakers taking the podium to inspire and motivate the women, emphasizing the importance of solidarity.

The ceremony attracted notable dignitaries from various sectors, showcasing a strong community spirit and commitment to the political progress of women in Yakurr.
