Yakurr Set to Become a Sports Development Hub, Says Local Government Chairman




The Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area Mr. Yibala Igiri Inyang has unveiled a visionary plan to transform the region into a premier hub for sports development.


Speaking during a one on one briefing with CEO of Detailing News, the Chairman noted the importance of sports as a tool for youth engagement, community development, and economic growth. 


"Yakurr has long been known for its vibrant culture and resilient spirit. It is time we leverage that to renovate the existing football stadium that will benefit our children and youth and put Yakurr on the sports map," the Chairman stated.



He outlined initiatives that include the refurbishment of sports facilities, organizing regular tournaments to scout for talented young athletes in primary and secondary schools.  introduction of training programs for athletes and coaches, and partnerships with scouts.


The Chairman also revealed plans for annual sporting events that will not only provide a platform for local talent but attract visitors, creating economic opportunities for residents. 


“By investing in sports, we invest in our future. We give our youth a chance to excel and foster unity in our communities,” he added.


Community members and sports enthusiasts have lauded the Chairman's commitment, expressing hope that the initiative will open doors for young athletes and uplift the region’s profile in national sports.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr.
