Rt. Hon. Alex Ukam Commends Governor Bassey Otu on Appointments of Barr. Fidelis Ugbo, Prof. Francisca Bassey as Pro-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor of UNICROSS



In a recent statement, Rt. Hon. Barr. Alex Ukam, the Honourable Federal Commissioner representing Cross River State at National Population Commission (NPC) has expressed his heartfelt commendation to the Executive Governor of Cross River State Senator Apostle Prince Bassey Otu for the strategic appointments of Barr. Fidelis Ugbo as Pro-Chancellor and Prof. Franca Bassey as Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), describing their appointments to as recipe for rapid growth and development in the institution.

Ukam highlighted the importance of these appointment at this critical time when the university is bedeviled with some challenges constituting a clog in the wheel of progress as a leading citadel of learning in the State and nation at large. “These appointments thus prove the Governor's carefulness and commitment to enhancing the educational landscape in Cross River State. It has demonstrated His Excellency’s keen understanding of the need for capable leadership to turn things around positively in the academic institution” the statement added.

The NPC Federal Commissioner noted that Barr. Ugbo extensive legal background and remarkable experiences in governance as well as achievements, is indeed well-positioned to provide the necessary oversight and direction for UNICROSS as the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council. He further described Prof. Franca Bassey as a round peg in a round hole who’s enviable academic credentials and leadership experience make her an ideal candidate to drive the university's vision and mission forward.

In his word, Ukam stated that, “the careful and thoughtful selection of Barr. Fidelis Ugbo and Prof. Franca Bassey is a clear indication of Governor Otu’s dedication to fostering excellence in education. Their combined expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and development of UNICROSS, ensuring that it meets the educational needs of our people in a rapidly changing world.”


Ukam congratulated the duo on their well deserved appointments. He further emphasized the importance of these appointments in promoting inclusivity and representation within the university's leadership. He expressed confidence that under the guidance of Ugbo and Bassey, UNICROSS will not only enhance its academic standards but will regain its lost glory among equals globally. He urged all stakeholders to support the new leadership at UNICROSS in their efforts to elevate the institution to new heights and reiterated the need for collaboration among government agencies, academia, and the Cross River community to create an enabling environment for institutional growth and development.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
