Breaking Boundaries: Benedict Ojong Agbor Emerges Best Graduating MSc Student at UNICAL’s 37th Convocation

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) honored academic excellence at its 37th convocation ceremony, with Benedict Ojong Agbor, a native of Nyarinka clan, Etomi village, Etung LGA, Cross River State, emerging as the Best Graduating MSc Student in the Faculty of Environmental Science, Department of Environmental Resources Management, specializing in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).

Graduating with a CGPA of 4.75 (Distinction), Agbor’s exceptional performance earned him two prestigious awards:

✅ Department Prize for Best Graduating Student

✅ Faculty Prize for Best All-Round Performance.

Agbor’s educational journey began at Government Primary School 2, Ababene, Obubra, before moving to Community Secondary School, Etomi, Etung LGA. Determined to excel, he pursued a National Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Technology at Kaduna Polytechnic, graduating with Upper Credit.

His passion for education led him to obtain a BSc in Environmental Resource Management (Second Class Upper) from UNICAL, and now, an MSc in Health, Safety, and Environment from the same institution.

Agbor’s expertise extends beyond the classroom, as he holds multiple professional certifications, including:

✔️ Personal Hygiene & Disaster Management Awareness (Institute of Disaster Management & Safety Science)

✔️ Disaster Management at Community Level

✔️ Basic Health, Safety & Environment (HSE 1, 2 & 3) (International Onshore & Offshore Safety Academy).

He is also a member of notable professional bodies:
