Cross River’s Leadership Honoured at UN’s CSW69, Secures Major Humanitarian Support

The United Nations 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) concluded ten days of impactful deliberations on the status of women post-Beijing with a grand finale recognizing global leaders for their exceptional contributions to humanity. Among the distinguished honorees were His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Otu, and Her Excellency, Bishop Dr. Eyoanwan Otu, both awarded the prestigious Outstanding Humanitarian Award.

The award, a testament to their unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, aligns with the timeless principle that “Not everyone can be famous, but everyone can be great because greatness is service.” The awards were received on their behalf by Archbishop Prof. Mrs. Magaret Ene-Ita.

In a further demonstration of global support for Cross River State, the UN Commission, through the 1000 African Women Network, will be donating two 40-foot containers of essential medical and school materials to the state. This significant humanitarian gesture will enhance healthcare and education accessibility for countless beneficiaries.

Additionally, The Smiling Fund, a UN-affiliated organization, has extended an exclusive invitation to Cross River State to participate in the CSW70 event scheduled for March 21, 2026. The upcoming session, themed “Ensuring and Strengthening Access to Justice for All Women and Girls,” will spotlight policies and initiatives aimed at fostering gender equality and social justice.

This invitation underscores the recognition of His and Her Excellencies’ steadfast dedication to transformative leadership, strategic partnerships, and collaborative efforts toward creating a better world for all. Their commitment continues to position Cross River as a model for progressive governance and inclusive development on the global stage.
