In the midst of political criticisms and scrutiny, The Detailing News took a step further to uncover the tangible achievements of Senator Eteng Williams. While others focus on fault-finding, our investigation revealed a commendable track record of developmental projects, social interventions, and empowerment programs that have positively impacted the people of Cross River Central Senatorial District.

EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTIONS

Senator Eteng Williams has placed a strong emphasis on education by facilitating both foreign and local scholarships.

✓Foreign Scholarships: 12 beneficiaries from the senatorial district secured fully funded scholarships worth over €40,000 each, covering tuition, accommodation, and living expenses. Four are pursuing Ph.D. programs in the UK and Scotland, while eight are enrolled for their Master’s degrees in the UK, Germany, France, and Malaysia.

✓Local Scholarships: 21 beneficiaries received a law school grant of ₦200,000 each to support their studies.

✓Infrastructure Support: A 3-classroom block is under construction in Aduma Primary School, Mkpani, alongside the donation of educational materials such as notebooks, school bags, calculators, and writing materials to over 50 public schools.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Infrastructure development is a priority for Senator Williams, as seen in the ongoing construction of:

✓A 2km Mkpani Ring Road

✓Mkpani - Lebang Road


SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Understanding the role of sports in youth development, Senator Williams has contributed to grassroots football through:

✓Sponsoring the Sweet Prince Otu Cup, which engaged pupils from over 40 secondary schools.

✓Sponsoring the Yakurr Unity Cup in 2024 to encourage community participation in sports.

COMMUNITY INTERVENTION

Senator Williams has spearheaded several community-based initiatives, including:

✓Distribution of 2,400 bags of rice to various groups during the Yuletide season.

✓Cash gifts and palliatives to persons living with disabilities to ease economic burdens.


JOB PLACEMENT AND APPOINTMENTS

Through his network and influence, Senator Williams has secured key appointments and employment for his constituents:

✓Placement of aides in the Senate President’s office.

✓Admission facilitation into security and law enforcement institutions, including the Nigerian Police Academy and the Nigerian Army.

SOLAR-POWERED BOREHOLES & STREET LIGHTS

EMPOWERMENT GRANTS

Recognizing the importance of financial stability, Senator Williams distributed:

✓₦55 million in grants to 550 constituents, including students, market women, and farmers.

✓₦60 million Presidential Grants to 1,200 individuals.

✓₦18 million in vocational training grants to 600 trainees.


VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR YOUTHS AND WOMEN

To foster self-reliance, the senator supported:

✓Agric Entrepreneurship training, providing 180 beneficiaries with ₦120,000 startup packages and irrigation equipment.

✓Anti-Child Trafficking Sensitization Training, where 120 participants received ₦100,000 grants.

✓Livestock Farming & Poultry Empowerment, benefiting 80 participants with ₦30,000 and 50-day-old chicks.


AGRICULTURAL INTERVENTION

In support of rural farmers, 1,200 bags of NPK and Urea fertilizers were distributed across the district.


MEDICAL OUTREACH

Healthcare remains a critical area of intervention, with:

✓10,000 beneficiaries receiving free medical treatment.

✓235 free surgeries performed.

✓1,028 children dewormed across six LGAs.

Despite the criticisms and political distractions, Senator Eteng Williams’ scorecard speaks volumes. From education and infrastructure to job creation and community empowerment, his impact is undeniable. While detractors seek to find faults, the facts remain—he is a leader committed to development and the well-being of his constituents.
