Smiles in Obubra as Mike Etaba Foundation Offers Massive Educational Support at Grand Launch


The Mike Etaba Foundation (MEF) was officially launched on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Ofodua Commercial Secondary School, Obubra, in a ceremony that drew dignitaries, stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and students from across the local government area. The event marked a significant milestone in the foundation’s mission to promote education, charity, and community development.

The Mike Etaba Foundation is a self-sponsored, charitable and hospitality-driven initiative established by a group of passionate supporters of Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, aimed at consolidating and extending the philanthropic vision of their principal. The foundation was born out of a collective desire to give back to society in appreciation of Hon. Etaba’s unwavering support and numerous interventions across the constituencies. MEF is committed to promoting education, youth empowerment, health awareness, and social welfare through grassroots initiatives.

The major highlights of the event included:

* The successful official launch of the Mike Etaba Foundation.

* The distribution of hundreds of branded exercise books to students in attendance.

* Generous payment of school fees for several students by the Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Her Excellency Rev. Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, who was ably represented by Mrs. Inyang Asibong, the former Commissioner for Health and currently the Special Adviser to the First Lady.

* Financial support to the foundation by the Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, as well as commitments from other political stakeholders.

* Well-delivered lectures on anti-cultism by CSP Innocent Ayabotu and on health and hygiene by Dr. Inyang Asibong, both of which received commendations from participants.

The event was graced by a high-profile gathering of personalities, including the Chairman of Council, Leader of the Obubra Legislative Council, various political appointees, community chiefs, school principals, and many other well-wishers. The attendance of such dignitaries was a  validation to the credibility and wide support the foundation enjoys.

The students of Ofodua Commercial Secondary School were visibly elated, expressing gratitude for the gifts and the opportunity to benefit from such a life-changing initiative. The Principal of the School in her remarks, appreciated the Foundation for choosing their school as the venue for the historic launch and noted that it would remain a memorable day in the life of the school.

In her goodwill message delivered through her representative, Her Excellency Rev. Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Mike Etaba Foundation for its timely intervention in the education sector. She further encouraged students to be of good character, avoid negative influences such as cultism, and take their academics seriously.

With the successful launch of MEF, the foundation has laid a solid foundation for its future programs and outreach. The support shown by public officeholders, traditional institutions, and community leaders indicates a shared commitment to grassroots development and youth empowerment. The Foundation pledge to continue expanding its scope to other constituencies within Obubra/ Etung and to take on even bigger social responsibilities in the future.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements.
