Calabar Monarch Confers “Ntunkae” Royal Title on Former Health Commissioner, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong

 





The former Cross River State Commissioner for Health , Dr Janet Ekpenyong has bagged the prestigious "Ntunkae" royal Chieftaincy title in recognition of her exemplary and outstanding leadership qualities and contributions to the Ejagham/Efik kingdom.

The exercise which coincided with the 5th coronation ceremony of the Paramount Ruler of Calabar Municipality and chairman of the Calabar Municipality Royal Council, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Dr Etta Bassey Eteta 111,  had dignitaries from all works of life paying homage to the tradition.

Welcoming the guests and members of the Traditional Council to the event, HRM, Dr Etta Bassey Eta 111 disclosed that, only worthy individuals who have distinguished themselves in the society with outstanding characters and contributions were being recognised as a measure to uphold the sacredness and novelty of the Ancestral Kingdom.

He eulogised the awardies, including Dr Janet Ekpenyong for their selflessness, human capital development,  compassionate attributes which cut across humanitarian actions, their service  to their community and contributions to the development of the nation, while fostering unity between Tradition and Religion.

In her appreciation message, the newly decorated chief thanked the Calabar Municipality Royal Council for finding her worthy of the prestigious title , as she promised to continually live and offer her contributions to the development of the society.

Dr Janet was also honoured with her husband, Honourable Ekanem David Ekpenyong who currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Sport with the prestigious "Ntufam" Chieftaincy title for his contributions towards the growth of the state .

Ntunkae, Honourable. Dr. Mrs. Janet Ekpenyong is a practicing medical Doctor who had previously served as the Deputy National Coordinator of the National Cash Transfer office, Cross River State Commissioner For Health and Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Healthcare Development Agency.

Among other outstanding qualities of the recipient is her humility, great leadership prowess, generosity and her unwavering faith in God.

The ceremony was witnessed by Friends, Associates and family members who were later hosted at a cosy reception.

Engr. Jerome Egbe Visits NSCDC Command for Strategic Partnership on Public Utilities

  The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Utilities, Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe, KSM, today, October 8, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Mr. Brown Charles, in Calabar.  The visit centered on establishing a strategic partnership to protect and secure public utilities across the state from vandals and criminal elements. UNICROSS ACTING VC EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER DAMAGE OF UNIVERSITY STUCTURES AFTER RAINSTORM IN CALABAR
