Mass Defection Sweeps Ofodua Ward as Key PDP Executives Join APC, Declare Ward Fully Progressive

In a major political shake-up, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ofodua Ward, Obubra Local Government Area, has suffered a mass exodus as top ward executives and political stakeholders decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside hundreds of supporters.

Those who defected include the Ward Youth Leader, Mr. Andy Takon, the Financial Secretary, Mr. Success, the Assistant Secretary, Francis Linus, and a host of other chieftains and loyalists. The symbolic event held in Ofodua community was described as the final collapse of PDP’s structure in the Ward, paving the way for a new era of APC dominance.

Welcoming the new members, the APC Ward Chairman, Mr. Matthias Ovat Ayo, expressed delight and assured them of full integration into the progressive family.

Receiving the defectors on behalf of the party leadership, the Obubra APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Danis Ogor, guaranteed that they would enjoy fair and equal treatment within the party.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr. Andy Takon said their decision was driven by support for the remarkable achievements of the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, whom he described as a true leader of the people.

In his remarks, another prominent defector, Francis Linus, noted that Ofodua indigenes have never benefited from any government like they are currently being carried along under the Otu-led administration. He added that it was impossible to continue “staying in darkness when light has become the order of the day.”

Also speaking, Mr. Oyama Oyom, spokesman of Obubra 3G, affirmed that the developmental strides of Gov. Otu make APC the only credible party to belong to at this time.

APC leaders who witnessed the ceremony expressed confidence that Ofodua Ward is now 100% APC, adding that the stage is set to deliver block votes for all APC candidates in the 2027 polls. They proudly vowed a 5/5 victory for the party when the elections arrive.

Dignitaries present at the event included Comrade Victor Bassey (DG Voice of Central), Mr. Obo Friday (Smart) SA Special Duties to the Chairman Obubra LGA, Elder Richard Ovat, Mr. Okoni Peter, Mr. Odogi Agara, Hon. Gideon Akpor, Hon. Philip Abeng, among others.
