UNICROSS Upgrades Office Furniture for Professors, Deans, Heads of Departments, and Senior Academic & Non-Academic Staff
In a bid to boost staff morale and create a more conducive working environment, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has commenced the distribution of newly procured modern office furniture to Professors, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, and very senior academic and non academic staff across the institution.
The furniture, provided through the intervention of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), was presented during a brief ceremony on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The initiative is aimed at improving office facilities for senior academic and non academic staff and enhancing departmental administrative efficiency.
Speaking while presenting the items to the beneficiaries, Prof. Bassey urged the recipients to ensure proper maintenance and careful handling of the furniture.
She emphasized that the initiative reflects the University’s management commitment to creating a conducive environment that supports high-quality teaching, impactful research, and efficient service delivery across all departments.
A similar distribution exercise was carried out last year for departments whose programmes were visited by accreditation teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The items distributed include executive tables and chairs, bookshelves, cabinets, and refrigerators.
The Vice Chancellor announced that the next phase will be distribution of computers to the remaining Heads of Departments who were not given last year, all results portal desk officers and Exam Officers.
Prior to this initiative, no single Head of Department across the three campuses had an official computer assigned to him to work.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with the Media Team commended the gesture, describing it as timely and beneficial to departmental operations. They expressed confidence that the improved office facilities would enhance productivity and administrative efficiency.
