Empowerment Programme: Sen. Ekpenyong Commends Bishop Otu’s Grassroots Impact Initiative

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong has lauded the impactful empowerment programme organised by Her Excellency, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, describing it as a practical demonstration of people-oriented leadership and grassroots development.

The Senator made this known after participating in the event, which brought together beneficiaries and community members from Omo Bloc—comprising Odot, Odukpani Central, and Obomitiat/Mbiabo/Ediong—as well as Eburutu Bloc, which includes Eniong, Ito/Idere/Ukwa, and Eki.

Ekpenyong, a proud son of Eniong, expressed delight that the initiative was hosted on Eburutu soil, noting that it symbolised unity, shared identity, and collective progress among the people.

According to him, the programme reflects a growing synergy between government and community-driven efforts aimed at advancing development at the grassroots level.

He highlighted the distribution of empowerment items such as buses, generators, motorcycles, sewing machines, hair dryers, and grinding machines as a transformative step toward economic independence for many families.

“These are not just items; they are tools of enterprise and dignity that will create sustainable livelihoods for our people,” he stated.

The Senator further noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and complements the People’s First leadership approach of Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu.

Reaffirming his commitment, Ekpenyong pledged continued support for programmes that uplift communities, strengthen local economies, and promote inclusive development across Cross River State.

He concluded with a message of unity and optimism, emphasizing the need for sustained collaboration in building a more prosperous and self-reliant state.

“One Renewed Hope! One Season of Sweetness! One Standard!”
