The drive to mobilise 40 million women voters for President Bola Tinubu is gathering momentum, spreading from community to community across the country.
The Rivers State PCC Women have commenced grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling for increased voter participation and support for the party’s candidates.
The mobilisation was led by Hon. Precious Alechi Iyeuwa, who represented the Director of Women Mobilisation, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, at a Tinubu-Shettima 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation and Voter Sensitisation Programme in the state.
Speaking at the event, themed “My PVC, My Power,” Iyeuwa urged eligible women to register, obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate responsibly in the electoral process.
She stressed the need for full mobilisation to begin immediately, polling unit by polling unit, across Rivers State.
Iyeuwa called on APC women to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections, as well as other party candidates in Rivers State.
She specifically urged support for President Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima; the APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chindah; his running mate, Hon. Major Jack; and the party’s National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates.
“We must listen to our communities. We must communicate the Renewed Hope achievements and vision and, most importantly, encourage peaceful, responsible and informed participation,” she said.
Iyeuwa said women remained central to grassroots mobilisation and urged them to take an active role in the political process.
The programme, which had the Rivers State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, DSSRS, as its chief host, charged the women to mobilise strategically across the state.
“When women organise, communities move. When women participate, democracy becomes stronger. When women vote, families and communities have a voice in determining their future,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwunche, Chairman of the Board of the South-South Development Commission and former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, (who was supported By his MD) said Nigeria could not afford to reverse the progress made so far.
He said the Renewed Hope Agenda was real and had been felt across the country, adding that women were well positioned to communicate the administration’s achievements to their families and communities.
Nwunche pledged his continued support for Rivers women in taking the mobilisation to the grassroots.
Iyeuwa commended Okocha for his support for the mobilisation and acknowledged the Executive Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Council, Hon. Solomon Abuba Ochoma, as host.
Others present included the keynote speaker, Dr Mrs Sylvia Tonye Cole; Lady Esther Victor Giadom, wife of the APC National Vice Chairman, South-South; Lady Ogechi Tony Okocha, wife of the Rivers APC Chairman; and former NNPC Board member, Constance Marshall Harry.
The programme brought together APC women leaders, party executives, ward and local government coordinators and other stakeholders as part of the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
