The Cross River State Representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke, PhD, has participated in the National Summit of the Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Former Presiding Officers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria (FOPSHA), which endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections.

The summit, held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, brought together former presiding officers and political stakeholders from across the country to assess the economic trajectory of the Tinubu administration and deliberate on its reform agenda.

With the theme, “Bold Leadership, Bold Reforms: From Subsidy to Renewed Hope, Assessing the Economic Trajectory and Visionary Leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration,” the summit focused on the administration’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, alongside other participants at the national gathering, which featured presentations, goodwill messages from different zones and extensive deliberations on the policies and programmes of the present administration.

Rt. Hon. Duke was among the participants at the summit, further placing Cross River State within the national gathering of former legislators and political stakeholders deliberating on issues of governance and the direction of the country.

At the end of the deliberations, FOPSHA endorsed the Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed support for the economic reforms of the Federal Government, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.

The forum acknowledged the short term challenges associated with the reforms, but maintained that they were necessary for long term prosperity, while calling on Nigerians to support the Renewed Hope Agenda.

FOPSHA also endorsed President Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections, citing his leadership and commitment to national rebirth, and resolved to mobilise its members nationwide in support of the President.

The forum further resolved to take the message of the summit to all parts of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, through a nationwide sensitisation and mobilisation exercise.

As part of the resolution, former legislators at the national, state and local government levels are to be engaged to enlighten citizens and mobilise support for the policies and programmes of the present administration.

The summit also appealed to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to adopt FOPSHA members as ambassadors in its planned campaigns and sensitisation efforts.

Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke’s participation at the summit highlights his engagement in national political and policy discussions, as well as his presence in conversations around the direction of government and issues of national development.
