UNICROSS Reiterates Ban on Sign-Out Activities as Final-Year Students Conclude Examinations

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has reiterated its ban on all sign-out activities within its campuses as most final-year students conclude their final examinations today, Friday, September 18, 2026.

The final-year examinations commenced on Monday, September 14, 2026, with students across various programmes participating in the examinations.

As the examinations draw to a close, the University Management has reminded graduating students to comply strictly with the directive banning sign-out activities within the University environment and to conduct themselves responsibly as they conclude their academic programmes.

The ban is part of measures adopted by the University to ensure a peaceful, orderly and secure environment for the conduct of examinations and to safeguard the wellbeing of students, staff and other members of the University community.

Management has also strengthened collaboration with relevant security agencies to ensure adequate security across the University’s campuses during the examination period. The University has continued to engage with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security formations to enhance security and prevent activities capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the examinations.

The University’s proactive engagement with the security agencies is aimed at ensuring effective enforcement of the ban on sign-out activities and maintaining a secure environment as students complete their examinations.

Meanwhile, the University has taken note of a video currently circulating on social media showing an individual, reportedly identified as a leader of a cult group, shooting into the air while being escorted by members of the group.

The University wishes to clarify that the incident shown in the video did not occur within the University of Cross River State or any of its campuses.

The University Management therefore advises members of the public and the University community to exercise caution in sharing or interpreting the video and to avoid associating incidents that occur outside the University with UNICROSS without proper verification.

As the graduating students conclude their final examinations and bring their undergraduate studies to an end, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, on behalf of the University Management, wishes them success in their final examinations and in the next chapter of their lives.

The Vice Chancellor congratulates them on reaching this significant milestone and encourages them to celebrate responsibly, remain disciplined and uphold the values of the University as they transition from students to graduates.

Management remains committed to ensuring a safe, peaceful and conducive environment for all members of the University community and urges students to cooperate fully with the University’s directives and security arrangements.
