The Cross River State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Dr. Pius Edet Ankpo, has inspected Old Bank Road in Ikom Local Government Area as part of efforts to identify road challenges and explore measures to improve access for residents, motorists and business owners.
During the inspection, Ankpo assessed the condition of the road and identified sections requiring attention, with a view to making daily movement easier and creating a more convenient environment for people who depend on the route.
Old Bank Road serves as an important link for residents and commercial operators in Ikom, supporting the movement of people, goods and services. Improving the road would help ease transportation difficulties, strengthen connectivity and support businesses that rely on it for their daily activities.
The Commissioner reiterated the state government's commitment to developing road infrastructure that responds to the needs of the people. He emphasised the importance of regular inspections and effective monitoring in identifying challenges, maintaining construction standards and ensuring that infrastructure interventions deliver meaningful benefits to communities.
The inspection aligns with Governor Bassey Edet Otu's People First agenda, which places the welfare of residents at the centre of governance and prioritises infrastructure development as a driver of economic growth and improved living conditions.
Through continued assessment of roads across the state, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure is working to identify critical infrastructure needs and advance efforts towards safer, more accessible and better-connected communities.
